Art Commission

I. Work Presented Participants of the commission were tasked to re-imagine their favourite video games that represents them. The Street Fighter franchise was my favourite video game and using inspiration from Filipino folklore and pre-colonial culture, I re-imagined the video game characters as the many Gods and Goddesses that the pre-colonial people worshipped.

The characters can be seen adorning gold jewelry, tattoos, silk and cotton like clothing that were traditionally worn by prominant figures in the Philippines. Blue, Red, and Yellow are the most used colours in this piece - which was done on purpose to signify the flag of the Philippines. And fun fact; the red background was on purpose to signify war or ‘in battle’ similar to how red is placed above the blue on the Philippine flag when in times of war.

III. Mock Ups Following the theme of re-imagining video games, this is how the video game cartridge would look; the brochure, CD compartment, and video game cover.
